The historical marker alongside the tracks and the main street in the town celebrating Saluda's claim to fame.  "Saluda Mountain" was the first American railroad video I bought thanks to Steam Powered Video's helpful and expert advice. A pilgrimage here was achieved whilst in the area by driving the "long" way back from Chimney Rock Park ("The Last of the Mohicans" was filmed there) to Asheville.  Unfortunately no trains passed whilst we were in Saluda.

The gradient down to Hendersonville is no picnic either!  Driving trains through Saluda requires skilful balancing over the crest.
