A rarity: Norfolk Southern # 1616, a Baldwin
Lima-Hamilton AS416. |

One just for me! Southern Railway FP7 #6133, built in
1950. This locomotive is serviceable and works it's share of the round-the-site
train rota, though not on the day we were there. Unfortunately the position of the
museum's SR E8A defied attempts at decent photography. |

A true North Carolina native, Graham County Railroad
Shay #1925, which had recently returned from Railfair '99 at Sacramento CA. The Graham County
Railroad, a logging railway, branches off the SR's Murphy branch (part of which is now the
Great Smoky Mountains Railway) where the GSMR Nantahala Gorge excursion from Bryson City
reverses. |

On the round-the-site duty on the day we visited was
Norfolk & Western GP9 #620. |

Some of the varied stock stored around the site, much
of which was not accessible to visitors. |
