| Former South West Trains' thunderbird locomotive 73109 "Battle of Britain 50th Anniversary" is nicknamed Bob for obvious reasons! |
| Until dedicated to the Gatwick Express sub-class 73/2 pool as 73201, this locomotive was 73142, the Electro Diesel with close Royal associations and was named after Lord Mountbatten's Broadlands Estate, which co-incidentally is not far from Eastleigh. Also one of the South West Trains thunderbird locomotives after being withdrawn from Gatwick Express, it is now owned by First GBRf. The Broadlands name was restored at the Open Day on Saturday 23rd May and is seen above before the ceremony and below after. This locomotive has been nominated to become part of the National Collection by the Railway Heritage Committee. |
