158702 and 170442 in adjacent platform roads

Berthed in platform 2 with its engine switched off was 158702, which I note is named - albeit with a rather small plaque - after the Scottish division of my employers.

Above, the contrasting front ends of two generations of modern DMUs is interesting.

158726 in platform 4
158726 in platform 4 will work the 17:11 departure to Aberdeen. Due to the history of railways in the Highlands there used to be three railway routes between Inverness and Aberdeen. Today only one remains.

158709 in the Far North Line platform
Ah! The romance of the Far North and Kyle Lines. Though in this case 158709 in platforms 6/7 is working a comparatively short commute to Ardgay, departing at 17:15. Platform 5, the platform face closest to the camera in the above photograph, is also connected to the south/Aberdeen lines , although there are significant restrictions and all such workings are for empty stock only.
